The Abrasive Wheels Course is designed for the operator who requires theoretical and practical instruction at basic level, in the use of abrasive wheel machines in a construction / industrial environment.
It is also applicable to those experienced operators who require refresher training.
Understand the hazards involved in using abrasive wheel machines and controlling the risks.
Understand the legal requirements involved in abrasive wheel operations
Select correct PPE, learn how to look after it and store it
Check the working area for hazards before work with the machine
Check disc information and machine RPM before use
Use machine in accordance with manufactures instructions
Adjust any guards
Set up the workpiece to be machined
Remove/Replace abrasive wheel as per manufactures instructions.
The course can cover hand held electric machines, bench mounted equipment and petrol powered equipment.
The duration of the course is 1 day dependent on experience and number of students, with a maximum training ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor.
Can be carried out in our workshop area at South View Farm
At the end of the course students will undergo a formal written test on all theoretical subjects covered and a practical assessment on their basic skills. This will involve cutting and grinding steel and cutting stone if applicable with dust control measures taking place.
Dependant on course duration and no of attendees and the number of categories of machine covered.
